About Singer Translations
Each and every author is in many ways an artist, constantly seeking out new shades of meaning from his or her palette of words to convey his or her message as accurately as possible. That holds true for all texts, not just literary works, and the paint brush of official documents and professional tests requires those same carefully selected hues.
This represents a tremendous challenge for translators, because each language has its own special palette of words, each with their own shades of meaning. Matching the right hues from two different palettes can be a complex task.
That was the challenge facing Mr Singer in 1936 when he embarked on his career as a translator in the very heart of Brussels.
He grew up in a quadrilingual household and later, when working as a translator for the U.N., he learnt to appreciate the value and importance of ensuring the accuracy of all aspects of translations. The creation of Singer Translations was the logical next step in his goal of improving understanding between the different linguistic communities.
Mr Singer continued to pursue this goal and later became the President and Founder of the Belgian Chamber of Translators, Interpreters and Philologists.
More than 75 years later, Singer Translations has become a European player.
The know-how and infrastructure of our translation service has evolved and developed, to include technical translations and data processing.
